Happy 57th Birthday

Mister Handmade in Israel celebrated his birthday recently. He is a fan of my papercut cards, so I use his birthday each year to come up with a new design which can be adapted to any age. This year's card simply wished him a "Happy 57th Birthday". I love the shadows of the lettering on the orange paper inlay.
He had a nice birthday. This year it fell on a Friday, which is the start of the weekend in Israel. We met friends in the delightful village of Beit Zayit, just outside Jerusalem, for a delicious Israeli breakfast. Others popped in during the day for drinks and birthday cake.
The following evening we went to the Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv to see their production of "All the Rivers", based on Dorit Rabinyan's controversial bestselling book. It tells the love story of a Jewish Israeli woman and a Palestinian man from Hebron as they meet in New York City. The play was thought-provoking, occasionally amusing and cleverly staged. Titled "Hedgerow", or Gader Haya in Hebrew, I highly recommend seeing it or reading the book if you are not in Israel.
Sadly, just 3 days after Mister Handmade in Israel's birthday his dad passed away, very peacefully, at the age of 90. I wish him only good memories.
