Melissa & Yonatan

Yonatan's mum really liked the birthday card I made for Hila and wrote to me to ask if I could make something for her son and his fiancée, Melissa. The couple met on 23rd December 2023. Yonatan's mum thought it would be nice to gift them a piece of my art to mark the date, something about the beginning of their journey together.
She sent me the photo of Melissa and Yonatan, above, taken when they first met. I recreated it carefully, adding all the tiny details which makes the picture special. She also asked me to add the following line in Hebrew:
מצאתי את שאהבה נפשי (Song of Songs 3:1-4), which translates as "I have found the one whom my soul loves".
My customer was delighted with the piece, which she framed herself. "They all loved it!" she said.
Yonatan wrote me a lovely message as well.
"Hi Lisa. We just received a fantastic gift made by you, and we are stunned at how beautiful and detailed it is. Thank you so much for your part in it ❤".
Melissa and Yonatan got married yesterday. I wish them a big Mazal Tov (congratulations) and many happy years together.

"Two Amazing Cards"

Back in May 2022 Mizzie and Jonny celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. As is their custom, the couple both asked me to make a card for their special day.
Mizzie wanted a card showing her and Jonny sitting together playing the piano. She was sure that Jonny was going to ask me for the same thing and even went as far as to say that I should tell her if he did, so that she could change the design!
I followed Mizzie's request carefully and showed the couple making music on an electronic keyboard, which I knew they were learning to play on. A red heart fills the space between them.
Mizzie was delighted. "I love the anniversary card I ordered! You're so talented!" she wrote to me.
Now Jonny DID actually guess that Mizzie had asked me to do something with a keyboard theme, so he requested something different. He sent me a photo of the couple in front of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece and asked me to recreate it for Mizzie's card.
"Thanks for two amazing cards!" Mizzie wrote to me. "I guessed Jonny's card and he guessed mine too!"

24 Years

Mister Handmade in Israel and I "celebrated" our 24th wedding anniversary back in June 2022. I say "celebrated". It was a horrible day. We had not long lost our youngest son Gadi and were not in the mood for celebrating at all. But I had already made this card for my other half and decided to give it to him anyway. He is a big fan of my papercut art and I try and come up with a new design for him each year. Apparently the traditional 24th anniversary colour and flower is lavender, a bloom that represents calmness, serenity and healing. I lined the card with a lavender-coloured paper inlay.
We have since celebrated 25 years but there was no card made for that day. Perhaps I will decide to make Mister Handmade in Israel anniversary cards again one day. Who knows? Even though a silver wedding anniversary is a significant milestone in every couple's life, it is so very hard to think of the good times at the moment.

There’s a Love That’s Divine

My customer and I were at university together. We recently found each other again on Facebook and, after seeing my work, he wrote to me to tell me that he and his wife were soon to be celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. He wondered if I could design an anniversary card based on their wedding photo.
My customer scanned a photo from their wedding day and sent it to me. I carefully copied his dark suit and all the little details on his wife's wedding dress. I then added a silver number 25 to mark the number of years they have been married.
My customer requested the line "There's a love that's divine and it's yours and it's mine" as the greeting on the front of the card. Apparently it comes from the song they opened the dancing to at their wedding. I was impressed! I haven't a clue what the first song was that we danced to at our wedding 🤣
The card was very well received. "Thanks for the fantastic card that arrived in the post this morning" my customer wrote to me then, on the day of their anniversary, he shared the card on Facebook. "A big shoutout to Lisa Isaacs at Handmade In Israel for a wonderful card joyfully received!" he wrote. His wife commented too: "Thank You! It's brilliant!"

A Long Time Coming

A new customer wrote to me telling me that she was looking for a really special card for her parents golden wedding anniversary. She wanted to know if I could make something based on some photos of her parents. She sent me various pictures of the couple on their wedding day, some of which were very blurry, but I managed to see what they wore on their big day well enough to create a new portrait of the two of them together.
I carefully cut out the details of the bride's veil and copied the beautiful colours in her bouquet. The groom, I noted, had a white kippa (skullcap) and wore a carnation in his lapel. Apparently white carnations represent pure love and good luck! I added a soft golden background and a gold number 50 to marked the number of years the couple have been married.
The card took a long, long time to reach its destination but my customer was really pleased with it when it finally arrived. "It's gorgeous, really excited to give it to them!" she wrote to me. "They'll be so excited to see it!"
