Swimming and Spurs

Gavriel and Amitai are twins. Their mum told me that Gavriel likes playing the piano, swimming and Molly the cat. These themes were very similar to those that mum gave me last year, so I made sure to make Gavriel's birthday card as different as I could, primarily by starting with a vertical layout.
I showed Gavriel holding Molly. He plays the piano but practices on an organ at home. It is his dream to have a piano, so I showed one on the card. I added a swimming pool ladder and some water and Gavriel is wearing some blue goggles on his head to illustrate his love of swimming. A yellow number 15 marks his age.
Amitai's favourite football team is Tottenham Hotspur. Mum sent me a picture of Spurs 2018-2019 teal coloured third kit (Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are commonly referred to as Spurs) and asked if I could show Amitai wearing that particular shirt. She also told me that he is a regular at the gym and asked me to show him doing a squat, with a bar on his back. Finally, mum suggested I include his silver laptop computer as well.
I added the Spurs emblem, a cockerel standing on a football, along with a black and white football. Did you know that those footballs were first used in the 1970 World Cup, chosen specifically so that spectators watching black-and-white televisions could clearly see the ball, with the black accents on a white background revealing the ball's direction of spin?

14 and 15

Meital was turning 14 and her mum asked me to make her a couple of cards. I have previously made birthday cards showing her dancing and on her phone. This time the card from mum and dad was to have a TikTok theme. Redheaded Meital likes making dance videos for the social media platform. She also likes shopping, especially from the online clothing store Shein and the Spanish retailer Pull&Bear.
I decided to show Meital as she appears in her TikTok video. She is wearing a favourite striped jumper and behind her is a glittery disco lights background. I carefully cut out all the icons on the TikTok screen: Meital's user image, a heart, the speech icon, arrow icon and a spinning record.
Next to the phone I added a big number 14 to mark Meital's age, along with a Pull & Bear shopping bag and the Shein logo. Finally I cut out several versions of the TikTok logo, which represents a music note.
Mum also wanted a smaller card for Meital from her siblings. This time I made her age the focus of the card and then added cupcakes, bunting and some hearts.
Mum was happy with the cards. "Just got them. [They are] amazing as always. Thanks so much!" she wrote to me.
Daniel has also received cards made by me many times over the years. Last year his mum told me that he was into basketball, exercising using his doorway pull-up bar and that he loved to cook. This year he turned 15 and apparently he writes music all day long on his computer!
I have shown Daniel looking at his white laptop with earphones dangling from his ears. A bar of music behind him represents what he is creating on the screen. Mum also asked me to include another instrument that he uses on the side. Apparently it is always next to him when he writes his music.
She sent me a bunch of happy photos showing Daniel opening his card, though I know that he prefers me not to share them here. Mum wrote that the card was "Another HUGE success!"

Running on the Track

A new customer wrote to me with a request for a birthday card for her son who was turning 16. She told me that he is a runner and sent me a photo of the young man in action. I also received  the logo of his running club - a simple one made up of three circles - and some physics diagrams too.
I showed Aron on the running track. I carefully cut out the circles of his running club's logo and added a big number 16 to mark his age and those physics diagrams as well.
Mum was delighted with the card when she collected it but wasn't sure that Aron would want me to share it here. Several days later I received a message saying "Aron said you can post his card. He loved it! We all did." Apparently he wants his parents to frame it for him as well.
I think it was winner!

Pull-ups and the Piano

Gavriel and Amitai turned 14. Last year I showed Gavriel playing the piano on his birthday card, while Amitai was into running, biking and swimming in triathlons. A year on and their interests have changed again, primarily because of the coronavirus.
Amitai is a big Tottenham Hotspur supporter, so mum asked if I could show him wearing his new Spurs shirt (Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are commonly referred to as  Spurs), while doing pull-ups for exercise in the park. He also likes playing on his Xbox, so I included that on the card as well. A big number 14 marks his age.
Gavriel still plays the piano. Mum told me that he has an organ at home and that is what he has been practising on. He also likes playing on his iPad and the family cat, Molly, had to appear on Gavriel's card as well.
For years they have had their favourite colours. Amitai likes yellow, so I made that the background colour of his card, while Gavriel favours red. Mum shared these brilliant photos of the boys with their birthday cards on Facebook. They look happy enough with their cards!
