Her "Lisa Card"

Back in 2018 Keshet came to spend the afternoon papercutting with me. From that year onwards her mum has asked me to make a special card for her daughter's birthday. She has been into rainbows (the name Keshet means "rainbow" in Hebrew), slime and last year I showed her giving a big thumbs up for turning 10.
This year mum told me that Keshet likes riding her bike and asked me to show her holding her bike helmet. She has her own sewing machine and, during the height of Covid-19, made hundreds of masks for one of the big hospitals here in Israel. Mum sent me a copy of the letter she received from the hospital thanking her for all her hard work. Well done Keshet! Keshet is also into drawing and diamond painting. Mum told me that she had dreams of getting an iPhone for her birthday but it was going to stay a dream. Finally, she asked me to put a pineapple on Keshet's T-shirt.

I showed Keshet holding her purple bike helmet in one hand. She has a pencil in her other hand and is putting the finishing touches to one of her actual drawings, a brilliant copy of the "Girl with a Pearl Earring". Behind her is her Brother sewing machine with a blue paisley pattern on it, together with her well-deserved letter and one of the face masks that she made. The lilac coloured iPhone that Keshet dreamt about can been seen in a dream bubble next to her. A big number 11 marks her age. Lastly I gave her a pale blue T-shirt with the much loved pineapple on it. 

I received the fabulous photo of Keshet with just some of her "Lisa Isaacs" collection, top. "Keshet loved her "Lisa Card"! Thank you!" mum wrote to me. Apparently she asked for one of my cards just before her birthday. Thankfully mum had already organised it!

Gardening and a Sunset

Last year Mizzie's husband asked me to make her a coronavirus themed card for their wedding anniversary. This year he concentrated on what she spent her lockdown time doing, gardening. He sent me a photo of their back garden and also the tools she works with and asked me to show her working there.

I showed Mizzie wearing green gardening gloves, with a plant pot in one hand and a trowel in the other. I carefully cut out paper versions of the tools she uses - a Bosch electric saw and some secateurs - then placed Mizzie in front of the photo of her garden.
"Card turned out great!" her husband wrote to me.

Mizzie also asked me to make a card for her husband on their anniversary. This has become a tradition of theirs and I rather like it! She shared a favourite photo of the two of them and I recreated it in paper. I carefully matched their outfits and added the beautiful sunset in the background. Finally, I popped a red heart onto the card. After all, it was their anniversary!

A Covid-19 Engagement

A new customer contacted me with a request for some framed art. Her sister-in-law had got engaged and she thought it would be nice to give the new couple one of my pictures based on their engagement photo. They had met and got engaged through Covid-19, so she thought it might be cute to make the "diamond" on her sister-in-law's engagement ring a little corona ball. We also agreed to keep the masks that they are wearing on their chins as a reminder of the period.  

I have shown the couple exactly as they appear in the photo, making sure to create the bride-to-be's jacket in denim and to add the teeny tiny logo on her fiancé's shirt. The proposal was at sunset, so I showed the sun setting in the background.

My customer also wanted to add their names on the picture, along with the date of their engagement. I added them in Hebrew at the bottom of the piece.

My customer seemed delighted with her picture. "I've been waiting for an occasion to get one of your cards or pictures" she told me. Her sister-in-law was happy for me to share it here on my blog. "Thank you for the wonderful picture." she said.
