"Shalom", like many Hebrew words, has more than one meaning. Shalom means peace. However, "peace" is only one small part of the meaning. "Shalom" is also used to both greet people and to say goodbye, but it means much more than "peace, hello or goodbye"...
Shalom is rooted in the word שלם (shaleim) which means wholeness, completion, wellness, perfection. When we are "at peace" we feel a sense of "wholeness."
My design is embellished with a dove of peace and flowers, and measures 16.5x16.5cm. It fits perfectly into an IKEA RIBBA frame.

This is lovely.
Beautifully done Lisa. I love the blue background with it.
The circular white against the blue background is beautiful, but my favorite part is your discussion of the meaning of Shalom. Shalom to you!
Het is echt mooi / it is so nice. You know that :-)
Love the paper cut, as well as the meaning "wholeness, perfection, well being - those were new meanings of shalom to me! When I saw this paper cut, I thought if you have ever thought of a "logo" for your work - since shalom is such a well-known word, but this cut may be too complicated ... (called "branding")?
Anyways, thank you for sharing shalom with ALL SEASONS this week, and for all the replies you leave me, much appreciated!
Another masterpiece..
These are great!
Love the paper cut. That shade of blue is one of my favourite colours. xx
Hi Lisa, you must have such a steady hand. Whenever I've tried to create a stencil or silhouette on a cutting board it never comes out with a nice finish. I do like what you've done, it's so simple (to look at) and is very fitting.
Thank you for linking up to the #MMBC.
xx
It isa beautifulcreation and I appreciate knowing the whole meaning of the word. I will remember this!
You are s o skilful, Lisa!
I too like very much the blue background with the peaceful sea waves.
