A Karategi and a Golani

Marc recently celebrated his birthday and his wife requested a special card for his big day. She asked me to put an Israeli flag and the flag of the United States, representing the country where he now lives and his country of birth, on the card. She also wanted me to include his white Karategi (the formal Japanese name for the traditional uniform used for Karate practise and competition), his iPhone, and the badge of the New York Mets baseball team. I added a baseball bat and ball as well.
Even though the card was not from me, Marc was kind enough to send me a message of appreciation when he received it. "Another work of art! They get better and better. Thank you!" he wrote.
Yaniv was turning 21. Back in 2015 I made a picture for his brother Ilan to mark his special birthday. Mum decided that she would like one for her second son too. Like his brother, Yaniv is a keen West Ham United supporter, though the shirt I created for his picture was the 2016-17 shirt and rather different from the striped one that appeared on Ilan's piece. She told me that Yaniv is also a big reader and suggested that books feature prominently too. I added the badge of the Golani Brigade, an Israeli regular service infantry brigade traditionally associated with the Northern Command, and a desktop computer as well. Apparently he spends quite a lot of time on one! Finally, I cut out a big number 21 to mark his age, and added his name to the picture in sky blue letters.
Mum was very pleased with the end result and told me that her son immediately hung up the framed picture in his room.
